There was a bit of Mondayitis going around . The clouds came over from the North West, the swell dropped even further and an eerie stillness descended over Byron. Yep it was a winters Monday morning and there was very little going on in the bay. However never being ones to just lie down and die. We decided to drive down to Ballina and take a look at some of the more open south swell magnets along the way. Surely the fabled Lennox Head would have a wave, if not, then at least North wall Ballina. So off we went with high hopes. But alas it was to no avail, the further south we went the smaller the swell got. Lennox was a lake, Boulders; well it had boulders but no waves. Even Shelley Beach & North Wall were small, fat and almost deserted. So we quickly shot a few Pelicans being cute and Pelican like. Then high tailed it back to the Byron shire. I asked myself what’s the lesson here? The answer was simple, be grateful for what you’ve got. The simple fact is that Byron is one of the most consistently surfable locales in which I have ever had the good fortune to live. It may not always be big and perfect, but it’s an extremely rare day when there’s nothing rideable at all. So after all that time and effort we ended up right back where we started. But with perhaps even a little more gratitude for how wonderful it really is just being, .
To all those groovers who chose to pose, we’d just like to say. Thank you for being here with us .
