Well the swell did indeed increase , as did the wind, clouds and rain. There was however a few moments when the sun blazed and the wind dropped. But unpredictable would be a fair description for the weather today. We Byronians were quickly brought back to earth from the high of yesterday’s unseasonal warmth. There was no mistaking it for anything other than what it was. Winter was well and truly holding sway in Byron bay today. For many folks shelter from the wind and rain squalls was the number one priority. Of course for us surfers it was more about trying keep warm enough while out in the elements, as they were served up to us today. This is not always easy, but there are rewards. With this cold blowy weather often comes a bonus, south swell and plenty of it. The new swell wrapped round the cape and marched straight on into the bay. There was not a lot of power to it but if you brought the right equipment there were plenty of fun slides to be had. Now the local crew knew what to do, so they brought their logs and proceeded to play. And so it was that there was much rejoicing for the arrival of a new swell, .
