Well there was definitely a little less rain than yesterday, but it was still a tad damp . There are a lot of folks getting around town at the moment espousing how weird this weather is. But when all is said and done, Byron bay is pretty much sub-tropical, which can mean heavy rain at times. I suspect most of us just tend to forget how wet it can actually get around here. It usually seems to come after a very hot summer, and this last summer was a scorcher. I remember we went through this same pattern during autumn and early winter in 98 & 99. It’s just the way it is up here Sure it can make life a little trickier at times. But there’s a very real beauty in it too. The rain can set the scene to see the bay in quite literally a very different light. The stout hearted folks come out. The stoic visitors don their raincoats and stay. And the pretenders with little interest in Byron’s natural beauty tend to find it all too much. So they pack their bags and run away. The end result is a town full of locals and visitors alike that although wet and tired, are still willing to make the best of it. People, who know the surfs a mess, but still look for the rideable wave. The kind of folks, that joke about the car needing a wash anyway, and that it’s great weather for ducks, .
To all those fabulous folks who chose to pose, we’d just like to say. Thank you for being here with us .
