May 21 09 In Byron Bay Today

Back to May 20 In byron bay Today Go to May 23 In Byron Bay Today

Well we’re still here In Byron Bay Today. Ok first the surf, it’s big, messy and dangerous, could good soon, but we’ll have to wait and see. Alrighty then, this was actually meant to be our update for Thursday the 21st of May, as you may have noticed we’re a tad late. I’m afraid there wasn’t much we could do about it, Huey had some very serious blustering to do, and we like so many others were caught up right in the middle of it. Luckily for us we got off relatively lightly. Lost power for twenty four hours and had many trees come down. But thankfully not on the house and even as I write this we have no real usable internet yet, just a dribble of wireless that keeps fading in and out. But we’re building this update in the hope we’ll be back online soon. Who knows maybe there’ll be window of opportunity when we can upload? Anyway we’ll see, we’re in the same boat as everyone else up here, and like I said we got off lightly many folks were not so lucky.
We cruised into the heart of Byron today to see how folks were coping. We heard many stories from our buddies of near misses with falling trees and flying debris. Its quiet miraculous that thus far everyone we know has been fairly lucky. But we’ve all got more stories to tell and a big clean up ahead of us. Everyone we spoke to up here was breathing a sigh of relief that the destructive weather had backed off in Byron today. However it looks like we are all about to get hit again, which could be really bad news for the river towns. Just now as I write this, torrential rain has started falling again; hmm maybe we’re not, as they say, out of woods yet, In Byron Bay Today. We’ll keep you posted, when we can. To all those good humoured folks who chose to pose we’d just like to say. Thank you for being here with us In Byron Bay Today.
