Weekend Windup May 29 In Byron Bay Today

Back to May 28 In byron bay Today Go to May 31 In Byron Bay Today

Welcome to the . What an extraordinary week it’s been. I mean seriously folks we’ve had it all. We all thought we’d seen the last of that wild storm on Friday last week, when the thing suddenly did a U-turn and clobbered us all again on Saturday. Then there was the swell and massive tides to deal with, vast tracts of beach got washed away. For some folks it was all a bit much, yet many of us have been expecting it sooner or later. The older locals have been saying for years, that we were long overdue for a big storm. So let’s hope that was it, well for a little while at least. When it did all settled down, we got some blessed with some classic barrels. Everyone was excited and hoping it would last a few days. But alas it was a flash in the pan; it was all over in a matter of hours. But we’re a resilient mob here In Byron bay and some of us will surf just about anything, with no more rationale for it than the idea of just getting wet. After all, surfing is meant to be about having fun. And fun was in plentiful supply as the end of the week saw small but utterly perfect logger waves slide on into the bay. The only sign of there ever being a storm at all was the dune erosion and the deep copper coloured water. The wind had calmed and all signs of the huge swell had passed on. This week has been huge for many as we’ve all had to face destructive winds, floods, massive tides and swell. Yet it all fell back into perspective as the week rolled on, revealing itself as just another big event lived the way we do it here. One day at a time, .
To all those wonderful people who chose to pose we’d just like to say. Thank you for being here with us .
