Leaping Tigers Hidden Dragons . So there we were; the wind had finally turned offshore after promising to do so all week. It was one of those almost surreal Byron Bay kind of days. You know the ones; with that steel grey sky and the water is cold with that strong fishy smell. The kind of day one’s imagination runs towards the ideas of hidden nasties lurking in the depths. Our buddy Shane pulls up in the car park to check it out. Yoko saw an opportunity and ordered us salty old dogs to suit up and paddle out, to give her something to shoot. So dutifully we obliged. After a few fun little slides, I notice a flash of white about one hundred metres to the right. Did I just see what I thought I’d seen? If so it was big, real big. A bloke paddles over, jabbering about the Tiger Shark that just leapt out of the water and did a dainty pirouette right in front of his face. I went in and asked Yoko if she’d seen it, hoping for a photo. The answer was no. Shane pipes up and says with a wry smile “I did, but I didn’t want to believe it”. And so the silence was suddenly broken, as the car park was all abuzz with stories of leaping tigers and hidden dragons, if you believe in that kind of thing .
