We were most certainly blessed by Huey, . The southerly wefve all been waiting for, did the spring routine and ran out of puff before it arrived. But it did get close enough to drive the northerly winds down to a very gentle breeze. There were a few patches of light cloud drifting past and plenty of sunshine. The swell was up from the east south-east and oddly enough the crowds were down to a minimum. This all adds up for a rather pleasant day in Byron Bay. Town is starting to fill up with a few families for the upcoming holidays and people are getting excited as we begin the countdown to summer. There are still plenty of whales around and Ifm told the fishing has been pretty good too. The nice surprise was the waves today. It started out well in the morning, then got a little weird around the low tide mark, but was still rideable. And as the day went on, we kept expecting the wind to come up and blow it to pieces. But it didnft happen. Huey held off with the big blow until late in the afternoon. The end result being, that many crew both old and new were lucky enough to score a few uncrowded slides, .
