Well guys it had to happen sooner or later, the northerly came in big time, In Byron Bay Today. And Ye God’s did it howl; it was one those classic Byron Bay in spring time blows. The type when birds fly backwards and small tourists go sailing down the street. Yes folks our nice little respite from the spring winds came to a very abrupt halt, in Byron Bay today. However for those who knew where to seek shelter from the wee breeze, there were actually some pretty decent waves to be found. Ok it wasn’t perfect, but it was fun enough for a few to get out there and enjoy what was on offer. So we went for a trudge with the gear and got some shots. Now we also popped into North Coast Surfboards (NCS) today to shoot a few shot’s of a new log I’m having made. We figured we’d document the process. Just to show those newcomers to surfing that a surfboard is actually a handcrafted work of art. Not some plastic moulded lump that you drag along the beach. A real surfboard has a life of its own, a story that starts with the conversation between the shaper and the surfer. In this case it’s between myself and Bob Brown three months ago. This week the shaped blank arrived at NCS. Now it’s their turn. Bob has already put his heart and soul into the shape, now NCS will work their magic. They will breathe life into the highly fragile blank and turn it into a durable, beautiful and highly functional work of art. So we’re going to show you how it’s all done for the love of surfing, In Byron Bay Today.
