Thar She Blows, . There were whales all over the shop in Byron Bay today I kid you not. The funny thing is many folks didn’t even see them. I suspect most people where just relieved to wake up this morning and find that Armageddon was not actually upon us. The eerie orange grey glow of yesterday’s dust storm was nowhere to be seen. If it wasn’t for the fact that everything, and yes I do mean everything, is covered in a film of rust coloured dust. One could be forgiven for wondering if it was all just a bad dream. But I digress, back to today, we had sunshine, light winds a very south swell, giving us waves on the ocean side and virtually nothing in the bay. Plus like I said whales all over the place, I was half expecting to be fighting humpbacks for car parks. Yet so far the big guys are staying in the water so all is well. Now being holiday season I’ve noticed a dramatic increase of inexperienced surfers in the water. If you’re one of them do yourself and the rest of us a huge favour. There are two links to the right titled, (Learn to Surf & Byron Surf Lore) click on them and read them carefully. Those pages may just save you a trip to the casualty ward of Byron Hospital. So learn the suggested lore, have fun and stay out of the crowd until you can turn your board with confidence. Let’s make sure it’s safe for others to also play,.
