Hello Twenty Ten, In Byron Bay Today. You know we dragged ourselves out of bed after less than three hours sleep to shoot the sunrise and go surfing in Byron Bay today. It’s our ritual; it’s what we’ve done every year long before we were producing this site. Every year I get a nice little reminder about who I really am. For those first forty minutes or so, when it’s still dark, I’m still half asleep and wanting more. I tend to mutter and groan like a massive spoilt child. It’s kind of lame really. But then I get to see those first rays of light as they breach the horizon and hit the most easterly point of the Australian continent. It hits me like a left cross, I snap out of my half dazed funk and get a lump in my throat. That’s right, now I remember why I do this; I came to show my respect, to give thanks for the light, the water, the life that pulses in all of us. I came to say thank you for the opportunity of another year, to jump in the water, get waves and start year the fresh in the realm of Huey, In Byron Bay Today.
