The Waiting Game, In Byron Bay Today. And so now we enter that phase of summer in Byron Bay the local crew know oh so well, the waiting game. The sand isn’t set up quite as well bay as it was this time last year. Although it’s not bad either but that’s not what we’re waiting for, it’s what will late summer and early autumn bring to Byron Bay? This is the question on the minds of those who live here, those who are visiting and those who are planning to come. You see we’re entering cyclone season now, and it can be a blessing or a major hassle depending on how it goes. If the tropical lows form and stay out in the Coral Sea, it’s a feast of midsized waves and light offshore winds for the bay, sometimes for months on end. But should they intensify into cyclones and sweep down the coast and make landfall as far south as Byron, well then who knows. At best we see radical storm surf and the sand gets eaten away, at worst it’s flooding and chaos. What will this wet season bring? Well only a fool would try to predict it, just a few weeks back they were predicting of the driest summer on record. Then that cyclone from WA dropped flood waters across almost the entire the continent breaking much of the inland drought, which just goes to show, that nobody really knows. So with much anticipation we wait, and watch as the storm clouds build each day. Looking to see what Huey may bring us, In Byron Bay Today.
