Empty And Begging, In Byron Bay Today. There were waves to be had, in Byron Bay today that is, for those who bothered to look for them. The bay itself was very small, very crowded and actually a bit difficult to ride. Was it the small waves, the intense crowd or mean level of surfing experience in the water? From this old salty dogs perspective I’d say a mix of all three. I know I keep repeating myself here, but I figure, what the hey, someone’s got to say it. Learn to surf away from the crowd folks, give yourself room to make mistakes. Anyway that’s enough of that. You know the funny thing is, away from the madding crowd, there were waves a plenty in Byron Bay today and from those few who went a little out of their way to find them, there was much rejoicing. We found many totally empty overhead beach breaks, just going begging in various different spots today. So here’s the tip folks, don’t follow the crowds or the car in front of you. Stop and think for a moment ask yourself this question. Do I want to try to surf somewhere famous with everyone else? Or do I want to surf, In Byron Bay Today.
