Life, It's Good,. Just for today I found myself sitting on a dune checking the waves feeling the wind and the sun and musing to myself, this life thing is good, in Byron Bay today. I later picked up the local rag and was instantly confronted with a stern faced someone complaining yet again about not enough money being poured into tourism in the bay, yawn heard that so many times before, blah blah blah. So I quickly put that down and just got on with the work of living the day. Later we ate some food with a bloke who was quite simply joyously celebrating his gratitude for being alive today, and then headed off to watch the sunset. Once home, tuned into SBS for a documentary (Living The End) where I got see the last thoughts on living and dying from a very close and respected friend who passed away last year, Mark Cherry. The bloke came to Byron often, surfed well, and always brought some fine philosophy and cheap sausages to Wategos for a quick no frills BBQ and a chat after a surf in the bay. I can still easily conjure memory of the bloke standing there with a sausage slowly cooking his fingertips, utensils were optional of course, and smiling that broad cheeky smile of his and saying. 'Benny, Yoko, you guys have got it so f%*#*** good here you gotta know that it's true, never forget that and you'll be ok'. Mark, you were bang on the money with that one,.
