Barrels & Beasties, . That little rain depression crossed the early and began to spin, in Byron Bay today. The bureau was forecasting a small increase in south swell. But what Huey dished up was a totally different deal. By dawn we were seeing 3 metres plus of East Southeast lines pushing into the bay. There was a lot more size that most had bargained for, and to be honest, it was better the day before when it was little smaller. The banks weren’t really holding it that well. Plus due to the short distance travelled from where it was generated, it was a bit of a junky kind of swell. But time it right and pick off the right ones, and there were barrels and beasties on offer. Speaking of beasties, watch your tootsies folks. There’s a pesky pointer hanging around the bay. This juvenile is only 2-3m but it’s getting pretty comfy with charging at the crew, and giving people a bit of a hurry up. It’s starting to behave in a territorial fashion, and it doesn’t scare as easy as most sharks do. So keep an eye out for that one,.
